Regular Season Round 14: Krivbas-2 - Niko-Basket 87-82

Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked Niko-Basket (5-9) lost to first ranked Krivbas-2 (12-2) in Kryvyi Rih 82-87 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Niko-Basket was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Niko-Basket was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Sergey Startsev (190-97) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 7 assists and 5 steals. Guard Evgeni Sergeychik (185-94) contributed with 20 points and 5 assists for the winners. Swingman Maksym Ozhegov (190-90) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and Roman Lypko added 14 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Niko-Basket. Five Krivbas-2 and four Niko-Basket players scored in double figures. Krivbas-2 have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-2 record, which they share with Hoverla. Newly promoted Niko-Basket keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. Krivbas-2 will face Dnipro-2 (#4) in Dnepropetrovsk in the next round. Niko-Basket will play at home against SumDU and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
