Regular Season Round 15: Rist Wedel - Stahnsdorf 71-65

Date: January 15, 2017
Rather predictable result when seventh ranked SC Rist Wedel (7-8) defeated at home 10th ranked RSV Eintracht (5-10) 71-65 on Sunday. SC Rist Wedel forced 19 RSV Eintracht turnovers. Strangely RSV Eintracht outrebounded SC Rist Wedel 42-29 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Lithuanian power forward Aurimas Adomaitis (205-87, college: LIU Brooklyn) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Guard Steffen Kiese (190-87) helped adding 12 points. Four SC Rist Wedel players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Josh Smith (206-94, college: Clemson) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import forward Josh Adeyeye (196-93, college: Jacksonville) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. SC Rist Wedel moved-up to sixth place in North, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser RSV Eintracht keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. SC Rist Wedel will face higher ranked AstroStars (#5) in Bochum in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. RSV Eintracht will play at home against Itzehoe (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
