Very important is a road loss of second ranked Oldenburg (10-5) against fourth ranked Artland Dragons (10-5) on Sunday night. Visiting Oldenburg was defeated by Artland Dragons in a tough game in Quakenbrueck 76-80. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Oldenburg. Artland Dragons made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was naturalized American point guard Matthew Reid (185-84, college: Cameron, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 18 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Benjamin Fumey (203-87, college: Valparaiso) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international Philip Zwiener (201-85) who recorded 19 points and 4 assists and power forward Marcel Kessen (207-97) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Oldenburg's coach Artur Gacaev rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Artland Dragons moved-up to second place in North, which they share with Iserlohn and Oldenburg. Artland Dragons will meet at home Recklinghausen (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Oldenburg will play against the league's second-placed Iserlohn (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
