Everything went according to plan when eighth ranked TV Langen (8-7) outscored on the road 13th ranked Heidelberg USC (3-12) 80-55 on Sunday. TV Langen made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. TV Langen outrebounded Heidelberg USC 46-23 including a 34-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Preston Ross (198, college: Winston Salem) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and forward Niklas Butz (199-90) who added 8 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side center Niklas Ney (208-95, college: Mercer) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds and guard Julius Haag (195-90) scored 17 points and 4 steals. Heidelberg USC's coach Ralf Schafer gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. TV Langen moved-up to seventh place in South-West, which they share with Fellbach. Heidelberg USC lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with 12 games lost. TV Langen will face higher ranked Koblenz (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Heidelberg USC will play against Lich II (#6) and hope to win that game.
