Regular Season Round 15: Recklinghausen - Bochum 81-74

There was an upset when higher ranked AstroStars (9-6) were defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Recklinghausen (3-12) 81-74 on Sunday. It was a great evening for guard Christoph Bruns (180-87) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). American point guard Chris Iles (180-89, college: Xavier, LA) helped adding 24 points and 5 rebounds. Recklinghausen's coach Maik Berger used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was guard Felix Engel (191-91) with 23 points and 5 rebounds and forward Alexander Angerer (203-96) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Four AstroStars players scored in double figures. Recklinghausen maintains twelfth place in North with 3-12 record. Loser AstroStars keep the fifth position with six games lost. Recklinghausen will face higher ranked Artland Dragons (#3) in Quakenbrueck in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AstroStars will play at home against SC Rist Wedel and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
