Very expected game in Quakenbrueck where 12th ranked Recklinghausen (3-13) was defeated by third ranked Artland Dragons (11-5) 89-80 on Saturday. Artland Dragons looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Forward Benjamin Fumey (203-87, college: Valparaiso) fired 23 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Naturalized American point guard Matthew Reid (185-84, college: Cameron, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists. American point guard Chris Iles (180-89, college: Xavier, LA) produced 24 points and 5 assists and his fellow American import power forward Tre Hale-Edmerson (206-92, college: CS Northridge) added 12 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Five Artland Dragons and four Recklinghausen players scored in double figures. Recklinghausen's coach Maik Berger tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Artland Dragons keep a position of North leader, which they share with Bernau and Oldenburg. Loser Recklinghausen keeps the twelfth place with 13 games lost. Artland Dragons will face SC Rist Wedel (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Recklinghausen will play against Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
