We should mention about the upset which took place in Izmir, where higher ranked Bandirma Kir. (10-11) lost to fourteenth ranked Gelisim (7-14) in a road game 80-84 on Wednesday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bandirma Kir.. Gelisim looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Guard Feyzi Celebioglu (192-88) stepped up and scored 25 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners and American point guard Adonte Parker (186-89, college: Dayton) chipped in 21 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Nigerian center Tonye Jekiri (213-94, college: Miami, FL) with 20 points and 8 rebounds and Talat Alp Altunbey (204-94) scored 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bandirma Kir.'s coach Menderes Gumusdal rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Gelisim moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Pertevniyal and Yalova Bld. Loser Bandirma Kir. keeps the tenth position with 11 games lost. Gelisim will meet higher ranked Afyon Bld (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bandirma Kir. will play against Afyon Bld (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
