Second Stage Round 8: Silute - Suduva-Mantinga 84-99

NKL top team - Suduva-Mantinga (27-6) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat fifth ranked Silute (17-16) 99-84. The game was mostly controlled by Suduva-Mantinga. Silute managed to win third quarter 29-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Suduva-Mantinga dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Silute's 38. Suduva-Mantinga forced 24 Silute turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by guard Evaldas Saulys (190-93) who scored that evening 21 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Gintautas Matulis (196-86) supported him with 26 points. Even 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by American guard Ulysses Thomas (190-92, college: Kentucky St.) did not help to save the game for Silute. Center Aurelijus Pukelis (205-94) added 15 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Four Silute players scored in double figures. Silute's coach Robertas Kuncaitis rotated twelve players and allowed the starting five to rest. Suduva-Mantinga have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 27-6 record. Loser Silute dropped to the sixth place with 16 games lost. Suduva-Mantinga will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Silute will play against the league's second-placed Nafta-Uni. (#2) and hope to secure a win.
