Regular Season Round 19: Schwenningen - Heidelberg USC 82-80

Fourteenth-ranked Heidelberg USC (3-14) was very close to win a game against first ranked BV Villingen-Schwenningen (16-2) on Saturday. BV Villingen-Schwenningen managed to secure only two-point victory 82-80. However their fans expected much easier game. BV Villingen-Schwenningen dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Heidelberg USC's 24. They outrebounded Heidelberg USC 52-25 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for Italian-Slovenian center Davor Barovic (211-90) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 16 rebounds. Slovenian forward Aljosa Remus (200-86) accounted for 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Four BV Villingen-Schwenningen players scored in double figures. Morris Hintz (193-95) came up with 24 points and swingman Victor Arnold (190-84) added 8 points respectively for Heidelberg USC in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for BV Villingen-Schwenningen. They maintain first place in South-West with 16-2 record. Heidelberg USC lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with 14 games lost. BV Villingen-Schwenningen will meet Koblenz (#5) on the road in the next round. Heidelberg USC will play against Stuttgart (#11) and hope to secure a win.
