Regular Season Round 19: Elchingen - Weissenhorn 66-79

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Elchingen. Second ranked Weissenhorn Youngstars faced 3rd placed Elchingen. Guests from Weissenhorn (14-5) defeated host Elchingen (12-6) 79-66. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Elchingen. They outrebounded Elchingen 51-34 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Elchingen was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Nils Mittmann (201-79) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Hungarian point guard Marcell Pongo (194-97) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Weissenhorn Youngstars players scored in double figures. Forward Brian Butler (196-91) produced 13 points and 9 rebounds and Canadian swingman Taevaunn Prince (191-91, college: Missouri So.) added 18 points respectively for lost side. Elchingen's coach Dario Jerkic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Weissenhorn Youngstars have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of South leader, which they share with Karlsruhe PS. Loser Elchingen keeps the third place with six games lost. Weissenhorn Youngstars will face USC Leipzig (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Elchingen will play against Fraport Skyliners II (#10) in Frankfurt and hope to win that game.
