Regular Season Round 20: H-Sirenos - Fortuna 83-53

The most important game in the last round took place in Kaunas between third ranked Fortuna (11-9) and fourth ranked Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas (11-9) on Friday night. Fortuna was crushed by Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas on the road 83-53. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Fortuna. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas forced 26 Fortuna turnovers and outrebounded them 43-32 including a 19-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Fortuna helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jacinda Myers-Sanders (188, college: Arkansas Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and international point guard Gabriele Gutkauskaite (175-90) who added 12 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas players scored in double figures. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas' coach Linas Salkus felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International center Justina Matuzonyte (198-94) responded with 19 points and 8 rebounds and Agne Cerneckyte (173-96) scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Fortuna. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas is looking forward to face Siauliai-Univ. (#6) on the road in the next round. Fortuna will play against the league's leader Suduva and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
