Very expected game when 13th ranked Nuernberg (8-15) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (16-8) 101-71. MLP Academics Heidelberg outrebounded Nuernberg 38-22 including 25 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. MLP Academics Heidelberg players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was a good game for naturalized Russian forward Albert Kuppe (200-88) who led his team to a victory with 29 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). American point guard Vance Hall (193-91, college: Bellarmine) contributed with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. MLP Academics Heidelberg's coach Branislav Ignjatovic felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Andre Calvin (201-85, college: Drake) replied with 17 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Diante Watkins (174-90, college: Robert Morris) added 15 points in the effort for Nuernberg. Five MLP Academics Heidelberg and four Nuernberg players scored in double figures. MLP Academics Heidelberg have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 16-8 record. Nuernberg at the other side keeps the thirteenth place with 15 games lost. MLP Academics Heidelberg's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Crailsheim Merlins at home and it may be quite challenging game. Nuernberg will play against ETB Wohnbau (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
