Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Bayer Giants (13-7) defeated 12th ranked Giants (4-16) in Leverkusen 95-79 on Sunday. Bayer Giants dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Giants' 34. American forward Brandon Nazione (202-94, college: E.Michigan) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Swingman Tim Schonborn (193-90) contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Bayer Giants' coach Achim Kuczmann used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Terence Smith (193-91, college: Mississippi) replied with 21 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Adrien Coleman (198-91, college: Beth.-Cookman) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Giants. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bayer Giants moved-up to third place in South. Loser Giants keep the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Bayer Giants will face Wuerzburg (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Giants will play against FC Bayern II (#4) and hope to win that game.
