Regular Season Round 22: Craiova - Steaua CSM 81-79

The most exciting game of round 22 in the Liga Nationala took place in Craiova. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Steaua CSM (14-6) to tenth ranked Craiova (6-14) 81-79 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Steaua CSM. Steaua CSM was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Craiova dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Steaua CSM's 26. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Jamar Abrams (201-89, college: E.Carolina, agency: Inception Sports) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 5 rebounds. The other American import guard Darius Hargrove (195-82, college: Virginia Union) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Craiova players scored in double figures. Craiova's coach Vladimir Vuksanovic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Lithuanian guard Marius Runkauskas (189-86, agency: Octagon Europe) replied with 20 points and Serbian forward Nikola Malesevic (202-89, college: Rhode Island, agency: BeoExcell) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Steaua CSM. Craiova moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Dinamo B. Steaua CSM at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. They share it with CSU Sibiu.
