Regular Season Round 25: Pertevniyal - Duzce Bld. 69-80

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 14th ranked Pertevniyal (8-17) lost to fifteenth ranked Duzce Belediye (8-17) in Istanbul 69-80 on Wednesday. Quite impressive performance for Mehmet Gorkem (-77) who helped to win the game recording 25 points. American center LaRon Dendy (205-88, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: David Lee Services) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Duzce Belediye players scored in double figures. Forward Nedim Yucel (203-79) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds and guard Ogulcan Baykan (196-96) added 12 points in the effort for Pertevniyal. Pertevniyal's coach Andac Yapicier gave the chance to play for eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Duzce Belediye moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with defeated Pertevniyal. Duzce Belediye will face higher ranked Bursaspor (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
