Regular Season Round 29: Bakken - Svendborg 109-74

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Aarhus. First ranked Bakken faced 4th placed Svendborg. Host Bakken (23-4) smashed guests from Svendborg (13-15) 109-74. The game was mostly controlled by Bakken. Svendborg was better in third quarter 25-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bakken dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Svendborg's 38. Bakken forced 19 Svendborg turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Svendborg's players. Bakken brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. The former international guard Adama Darboe (190-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points and 6 assists. American guard Mike Gesell (188-93, college: Iowa) contributed with 14 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Bakken players scored in double figures. American point guard Stefan Bonneau (177-87, college: LIU Post) answered with 27 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and Cameroonian forward Harding NaNa (203-81, college: Delaware) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Svendborg. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bakken have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 23-4 record. Svendborg lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 15 games lost. Bakken will play against Horsholm (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Svendborg will have a break next round.
