An interesting game took place in Balikesir where higher ranked Gaziantep (10-11) was upset on the court of fifteenth ranked Balikesir (4-17) 78-71 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gaziantep. Balikesir shot 30 for 43 from the free-throw line, while Gaziantep only scored ten points from the stripe. They outrebounded Gaziantep 45-33 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American-Guyanese forward Delroy James (203-87, college: Rhode Island) who scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Andrew Andrews (188-93, college: Washington, agency: Diamond Sports) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Four Balikesir players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Will Cherry (185-91, college: Montana) who recorded 29 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard Marcus Denmon (191-90, college: Missouri) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Balikesir maintains fifteenth place with 4-17 record. Loser Gaziantep dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Tofas. Balikesir will meet higher ranked Trabzonspor (#12) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gaziantep will play against Tofas (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
