An interesting game for BasCats Heidelberg (19-1) which hosted in Heidelberg second-best Don Bosco Bamberg (13-6). First ranked BasCats Heidelberg managed to get a 9-point victory 60-51. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Don Bosco Bamberg won third quarter 17-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BasCats Heidelberg made 17-of-20 charity shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Don Bosco Bamberg turnovers and outrebounded them 37-22 including a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Center Viktoria Krell (183-85, college: Lindsey Wilson) stepped up and scored 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and point guard Helena Chatzitheodoros (166-97) chipped in 10 points. BasCats Heidelberg's coach Dennis Czygan allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American power forward Tori Waldner (196-93, college: Penn St.) with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Julia Foerner (176-1) scored 14 points. BasCats Heidelberg have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place in South with 19-1 record. Don Bosco Bamberg at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. They share it with Wuerzburg. BasCats Heidelberg will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Don Bosco Bamberg will play on the road against Rhein Main Baskets in Langen and hopes to get back on the winning track.
