Regular Season Round 29: Bakken - Naestved 89-82

Leader Bakken delivered the twenty third victory on Monday night. This time they beat 5th ranked Naestved (12-15) 89-82 in Aarhus. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-12. But Naestved won second period 25-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bakken looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American-Trinidad and Tobago guard Devaughn Akoon-Purcell (196-93, college: Illinois St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners and American guard Mike Gesell (188-93, college: Iowa) chipped in 11 points and 9 assists. Bakken's coach Jakob Freil used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Nigerian forward Patrick Onwenu (198-93, college: Alcorn St.) responded with 33 points (!!!) (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) and American guard Deon Mitchell (186-93, college: N.Iowa) scored 12 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Bakken. They maintain first place with 23-4 record. Naestved at the other side keeps the fifth position with 15 games lost. They share it with SISU. Bakken will meet Horsholm (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Naestved will play against Randers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
