Very expected game in Dnepropetrovsk where 10th ranked Avantazh-Polit. (3-23) was defeated by third ranked Dnipro (20-6) 87-74 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-74. Dnipro outrebounded Avantazh-Polit. 47-30 including 22 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international forward Stanislav Tymofeyenko (202-89, agency: Octagon Europe) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international center Sergiy Zagreba (214-94) chipped in 14 points and 16 rebounds. They maintain third place with 20-6 record having four points less than leader Budivelnyk. Avantazh-Polit. lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with 23 games lost. Dnipro are looking forward to face Kremen (#8) in Kremenchuk in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Avantazh-Polit. will play on the road against Zaporizhya in Zaporozhye and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
