Regular Season Round 28: Pertevniyal - Turk Telekom 71-81

Very predictable result when ninth ranked Turk Telekom (15-13) won against 15th ranked Pertevniyal (8-20) in Istanbul 81-71 on Saturday. Turk Telekom made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Pertevniyal turnovers. Strangely Pertevniyal outrebounded Turk Telekom 43-23 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Quite impressive performance for American power forward Darryl Monroe (201-86, college: George Mason, agency: BeoBasket) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. The former international swingman Serhat Cetin (197-86) contributed with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 assists for the winners. Guard Cagdas Erdogan (188-88) replied with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Adem Oren (207-79) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Pertevniyal. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Turk Telekom maintains ninth position with 15-13 record. Pertevniyal lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth place with 20 games lost. Turk Telekom will face Final Genclik (#16) in Bursa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pertevniyal will play on the road against Bursaspor and hope to win that game.
