An interesting game took place in Balikesir where higher ranked Bandirma Kir. (13-16) was upset on its own court by seventeenth ranked Mamak DSI (7-22) 92-88 on Wednesday. Mamak DSI made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 60.9 percentage. Mamak DSI looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American guard Reginald Holmes (193-87, college: Morgan St., agency: Two Points) stepped up and scored 27 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners and the former international swingman Ulug Kacaniku (202-85) chipped in 26 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Ismail-Cem Ulusoy (183-96, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 34 points (!!!) and 5 assists and swingman Erkin Senel (191-99) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Bandirma Kir.'s coach Menderes Gumusdal tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Mamak DSI moved-up to sixteenth place. Bandirma Kir. lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 16 games lost. Mamak DSI will face higher ranked Afyon Bld (#5) in Afyonkarahisar in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
