Regular Season Round 26: Speyer - Stuttgart 60-79

There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Stuttgart (9-16) outplayed on the road higher ranked Speyer (15-10) 79-60 on Saturday. Stuttgart dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Speyer's 28. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Forward Jonas Leidel (195-87) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward David Rotim (197-85) contributed with a triple-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Four Stuttgart players scored in double figures. American center Khobi Williamson (201-92, college: Hampden-Sydney) replied with 23 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Aaron Ellis (205-87, college: Wichita St.) added 12 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Speyer. Speyer's coach Carl Mbassa let to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Stuttgart moved-up to tenth place in South-West. Loser Speyer keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Stuttgart will face league's leader BV Villingen-Schwenningen at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Speyer will play against Saarlouis/Dillingen (#11) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the ProB just one year after relegation.
