Regular Season Round 31: Gelisim - Yalova Bld 65-87

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 12th ranked Gelisim (12-20) was outscored by thirteenth ranked Yalova Bld (12-19) in Izmir 87-65 on Friday. Yalova Bld outrebounded Gelisim 41-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. Yalova Bld looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Quite impressive performance for point guard Burak Sasmaz (183-91) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Aubrey Coleman (193-87, college: Houston, agency: HMS) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Bosnian-Slovenian center Hasan Rizvic (212-84) answered with 11 points and 6 rebounds and Huseyin-Akin Kandemir (-95) added 13 points in the effort for Gelisim. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Yalova Bld moved-up to twelfth place. Gelisim lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 20 games lost. Yalova Bld will face higher ranked Samsun (#8) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gelisim will play against Pertevniyal (#15) in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
