Very expected game when 15th ranked Duzce Belediye (10-23) was rolled over on the road by seventh ranked Istanbulspor (20-13) 90-63 on Saturday. Istanbulspor dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Duzce Belediye's 28. Istanbulspor had a 37-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American guard Elijah Johnson (192-90, college: Kansas) stepped up and scored 40 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and his fellow American import Brandon Brown (201-85, college: CS San Bernar.) chipped in 21 points and 11 rebounds. Brown is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was American center LaRon Dendy (205-88, college: Middle Tenn.St.) with 12 points and 8 rebounds and American-Puerto Rican point guard TreVon Hughes (183-87, college: Wisconsin) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Istanbulspor maintains seventh place with 20-13 record. Duzce Belediye lost fourth consecutive game. Duzce Belediye at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifteenth position with 23 games lost. Istanbulspor will meet league's leader Eskisehir Basket in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Duzce Belediye will play against Final Genclik (#17) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
