Regular Season Round 29: Best Balikesir - Pinar Karsiyaka 101-99

A very close game took place in Balikesir (derby !!!) between Balikesir and Pinar Karsiyaka. Fifteenth ranked Balikesir (7-22) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Pinar Karsiyaka (15-14). Balikesir managed to escape with a 2-point win 101-99 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Balikesir made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. American guard Andrew Andrews (188-93, college: Washington, agency: Diamond Sports) nailed 26 points and 4 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winning side and American-Guyanese forward Delroy James (203-87, college: Rhode Island) accounted for 16 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Polish swingman Mateusz Ponitka (196-93) came up with 24 points and American forward DaJuan Summers (203-88, college: Georgetown) added 21 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Pinar Karsiyaka in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Pinar Karsiyaka's coach Nenad Markovic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Balikesir maintains fifteenth place with 7-22 record. Loser Pinar Karsiyaka keeps the seventh position with 14 games lost. They share it with Gaziantep. Balikesir will meet higher ranked Darussafaka (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pinar Karsiyaka will play against Tofas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
