Regular Season Round 4: Rhein MB - Weiterstadt 64-65

Date: October 14, 2017
Not a big story in a game in Langen where bottom-ranked Rhein Main Baskets (0-3) were edged by sixth ranked Weiterstadt (3-1) 65-64 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Rhein Main Baskets won third quarter 22-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Weiterstadt dominated on the defensive end, holding Rhein Main Baskets to just 7 points in second quarter. They made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Rhein Main Baskets were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Aline Stiller (184-94) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 5 rebounds and forward Kristin Annawald (184-93) who added 10 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Tori Fisher (0, college: Colorado Springs) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and Bosnian power forward Anja Stupar (182-89) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Rhein Main Baskets' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Weiterstadt moved-up to second place in South, which they share with Freiburg and Bad Homburg. Loser Rhein Main Baskets still closes the standings with three games lost. Weiterstadt will have a break next round. Rhein Main Baskets will play on the road against the league's leader Friendsfactory Germering (#1) and hope to get finally their first victory.
