Regular Season Round 3: Phoenix Galati - Sf.Gheorghe 69-82

Very expected game when Phoenix Galati (0-3) was defeated at home by Sf.Gheorghe (3-0) 82-69 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Sf.Gheorghe. Phoenix Galati managed to win fourth quarter 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Phoenix Galati 39-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American swingman Tyaunna Marshall (175-92, college: Georgia Tech) who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Sydney Wallace (173-93, college: Georgia Tech) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds. Four Sf.Gheorghe players scored in double figures. Sf.Gheorghe's coach Zoran Mikes used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Bosnian point guard Miljana Dzombeta (169-94) who recorded 23 points and 7 rebounds and the former international center Alina Craciun (194-93) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Sf.Gheorghe will meet at home Alexandria (#4) in the next round. Phoenix Galati will play against Cluj Napoca (#6) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
