Regular Season Round 6: FC Bayern II - Schwelm 59-60

Ninth-ranked FC Bayern II (1-5) used its home court advantage to challenge top-ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (6-0) in Muenchen on Saturday. The visitors from Schwelm managed to secure only one-point victory 60-59. However their fans expected much easier game. SG Schwelmer Baskets forced 22 FC Bayern II turnovers. It was a good game for American guard Chris Hortman (190-88, college: Wisc.-Stout) who saved his team from a defeat with 17 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Lithuanian swingman Andrius Mikutis (194-88, college: John Brown) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Nelson Weidemann (190-99) replied with 10 points and 8 rebounds and Austrian forward Marvin Ogunsipe (204-96) added 6 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for FC Bayern II. SG Schwelmer Baskets have an impressive six-game winning streak. Newly promoted SG Schwelmer Baskets maintains first position in South with 6-0 record. FC Bayern II at the other side dropped to the tenth place with five games lost. They share the position with Wuerzburg. SG Schwelmer Baskets are looking forward to face Iserlohn (#4) at home in the next round. FC Bayern II will play against Bayer Giants (#6) in Leverkusen and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
