Regular Season Round 8: Westerstede - Bergedorf 100-90

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Bergedorf (5-2) against twelfth ranked Westerstede (1-5) on Sunday night. Visiting Bergedorf was defeated by Westerstede in Westerstede 100-90. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bergedorf. Westerstede made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Marcello Schroeder (195-87) who scored 37 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Point guard Franjo Borchers (190-93) chipped in 24 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Markus Timm (204-88) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds and American guard Will Barnes (185-88, college: Lee) added 26 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bergedorf's coach Bjoern Fock tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Westerstede left bottom position moving up to eleventh place in North, which they share with Wusterhausen. Newly promoted Bergedorf keeps the third position with two games lost. They share it with Rendsburg. Westerstede will meet Ebstorf (#13) on the road in the next round. Bergedorf will play against ALBA-2 (#9) and hope to secure a win.
