There was a surprise result in Langen where tenth ranked Rhein Main Baskets (2-5) defeated higher ranked Ladybaskets Wuerzburg (4-3) 68-64 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 68-64. Rhein Main Baskets dominated on the defensive end, holding Ladybaskets Wuerzburg to just 7 points in second quarter. The best player for the winners was Bosnian power forward Anja Stupar (182-89) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Point guard Pia Dietrich (168-94) chipped in 15 points. Forward Rebekka Jaeger (178) produced 16 points and 8 rebounds and Canadian forward Jenna Bugiardini (180) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Ladybaskets Wuerzburg players scored in double figures. Rhein Main Baskets moved-up to ninth place in South, which they share with Speyer and Bamberg. Loser Ladybaskets Wuerzburg dropped to the third position with three games lost. Rhein Main Baskets will face Speyer / Schifferstadt (#11) in Dudenhofen in the next round. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg will play at home against Weiterstadt (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
