Regular Season Round 5: Politekhn.Lvov - Rivne 64-94

Bottom-ranked Politekhn.Lvov (0-5) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to fifth ranked Rivne-OSHVSM (3-2) 94-64 on Saturday evening. The game without a history. Rivne-OSHVSM led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Politekhn.Lvov's 34. Rivne-OSHVSM forced 21 Politekhn.Lvov turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Swingman Nazar Kisilchuk (194-97) stepped up and scored 32 points and 4 assists for the winners and forward Anatoly Dubniuk (202-76) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Andriy Gutsaliuk (192-96) responded with 21 points and 4 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and center Sergiy Kuzmenko (205-95) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Rivne-OSHVSM moved-up to second place, which they share with 4 other teams. Politekhn.Lvov lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Rivne-OSHVSM will have a break next round. Politekhn.Lvov will play again at home against Rivne-OSHVSM (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
