Very predictable result when second ranked Aschersleben (7-1) beat at home 12th ranked WSG Koenigs (1-6) 77-66 on Saturday. Aschersleben forced 24 WSG Koenigs turnovers. Strangely WSG Koenigs outrebounded Aschersleben 37-25 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American point guard Tyaire Ponzo-Meek (180-94, college: Wilmington, DE) who scored 25 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Croatian Robert Kujundzic (202-94) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. Four Aschersleben players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Nico Draegert (208-90) who recorded 12 points and 8 rebounds and forward Dmitrij Hasenkampf (193-86) added 14 points and 4 steals respectively. WSG Koenigs' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Aschersleben maintains second place in North with 7-1 record having 2 victories less than leader Muenster. WSG Koenigs lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with six games lost. Aschersleben will face Stade (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
