Regular Season Round 9: Muenster - Salzkotten 97-72

No shocking result in a game when first ranked Muenster (9-1) smashed at home 8th ranked Salzkotten (4-6) 97-72 on Saturday. Muenster forced 19 Salzkotten turnovers and had a 28-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 55.6 percentage. Muenster looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Salzkotten's players. The best player for the winners was American guard Bryce Leavitt (193-94, college: Seattle Pacific) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists. Forward Leo Padberg (200-91) chipped in 17 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Muenster players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Rolf Gees (197-85) who recorded 23 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Fritz Hemschemeier (182-98) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Muenster. They maintain first place in West with 9-1 record, which they share with Grevenbroich. Loser Salzkotten keeps the eighth position with six games lost. Muenster will face Bonn II (#12) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Salzkotten will play against Duesseldorf (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
