Regular Season Round 7: Besiktas - Istanbul BBSK 94-83

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Besiktas (#4) and Istanbul BBSK (#8). Besiktas (5-2) won against visiting Istanbul BBSK (3-4) 94-83. Besiktas shot 61.4 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. Besiktas looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for American-Cameroonian DJ Strawberry (196-85, college: Maryland) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). American swingman Jon Diebler (198-88, college: Ohio St., agency: BeoBasket) helped adding 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side Slovenian Jaka Klobucar (198-87) responded with 9 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and Croatian power forward Ivan Buva (208-91) scored 22 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Besiktas have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams. Istanbul BBSK at the other side keeps the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Besiktas is looking forward to face Banvit (#6) in Balikesir in the next round. Istanbul BBSK will play at home against Sakarya BSB and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
