Regular Season Round 7: Lusitania - CAB Madeira 97-100

A very close game took place in Angra between CAB Madeira and Lusitania. Fifth ranked CAB Madeira (6-4) got a very close victory on the road over 7th ranked Lusitania (4-6). CAB Madeira managed to escape with a 3-point win 100-97 on Saturday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 31-27. But Lusitania won second period 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CAB Madeira made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for the former international swingman Fabio Lima (198-88) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 8 rebounds. The former international point guard Mario Fernandes (176-82) accounted for 19 points and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws) for the winning side. Point guard Pedro Catarino (184-90) came up with 24 points and American swingman Dominique Coleman (198-88, college: Francis Marion) added 21 points (made all of his eight free throws) respectively for Lusitania in the defeat. Four CAB Madeira and five Lusitania players scored in double figures. CAB Madeira maintains fifth place with 6-4 record. Loser Lusitania dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. CAB Madeira will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Lusitania will play against Terceira (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
