The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Pitesti as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Pitesti defeated bottom-ranked Politehnica Iasi at home 78-68. The game was mostly controlled by Pitesti. Politehnica Iasi managed to win third quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pitesti looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Politehnica Iasi's players. Ukrainian Andriy Agafonov (208-86) fired 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American guard Porter Troupe (196-83, college: Portland, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 19 points and 5 assists. American point guard Terrell Lipkins (180-91, college: Montevallo) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and American-Nigerian guard Mike Balogun (188-91, college: Arkansas Tech) added 12 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pitesti (6-1) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Newly promoted Politehnica Iasi still closes the standings with seven games lost. They share the position with Dinamo B.. Politehnica Iasi will play next round against Timba Timosoara trying to get back on the winning streak. Pitesti will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Targu Mures on the road.
