There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Herford (6-7) beat at home 5th ranked Hagen BG (8-5) 73-68 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Carlbe Ervin-II (190-95, college: Kansas St.) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 6 rebounds and Canadian-British forward Kris Douse (198-86, college: Point Park) who added 14 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Herford's coach William Massenburg used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American David Golembiowski (203-89, college: SUNY Poly) with 23 points and 7 rebounds and Lithuanian forward Vytautas Nedzinskas (196-87) scored 13 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Herford maintains seventh position in West with 6-7 record, which they share with Ibbenbueren. Loser Hagen BG dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. Herford will face Salzkotten (#9) on the road in the next round.
