Regular Season Round 12: Stahnsdorf - Schalke 70-72

Twelfth-ranked RSV Eintracht (2-10) made lots of trouble for first ranked Schalke (11-1) in Stahnsdorf on Sunday. The visitors from Schalke managed to secure only two-point victory 72-70. However their fans expected much easier game. Schalke made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Strangely RSV Eintracht outrebounded Schalke 35-20 including 23 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American-Irish guard Patrick Carney (185-85, college: Chapman) who scored 18 points. Forward Timo Volk (204-93) chipped in 8 points and 5 rebounds. Schalke's coach Raphael Wilder used entire bench in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American Josh Smith (206-94, college: Clemson) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and 20 rebounds and naturalized Croatian forward Luka Kamber (203-94, college: Nicholls St.) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Schalke have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position in North with 11-1 record. RSV Eintracht lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with ten games lost. Schalke are looking forward to face Rostock (#6) at home in the next round where they are favorite. RSV Eintracht will play against Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (#5) and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
