Regular Season Round 9: Randers - Naestved 78-81

The most exciting game of round 9 in the Ligaen took place in Randers. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked Randers (4-5) to third ranked Naestved (6-4) 81-78 on Thursday evening. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-78. It was a good game for American forward Kazembe Abif (200-92, college: Drexel) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Lithuanian center Zygimantas Riauka (205-93, college: Wisc.-Parkside) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Abif is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American-Belizean forward Charles Burgess (186-84, college: Texas Tech) answered with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international guard Chris Nielsen (193-85) added 17 points in the effort for Randers. Four Randers players scored in double figures. Naestved maintains third place with 6-4 record having just three points less than leader Horsens IC. Randers at the other side keep the fifth position with five games lost. Naestved are looking forward to face Svendborg (#6) on the road in the next round. Randers will play against BMS Skovlunde and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
