Regular Season Round 12: MBC - Braunschweig 84-78

Date: December 8, 2017
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Braunschweig (5-7) and Mitteldeutscher BC (4-8), which took place in Weissenfels. Higher ranked Braunschweig lost to fifteenth ranked Mitteldeutscher BC in a road game 78-84 on Friday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Braunschweig. Mitteldeutscher BC made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American point guard Lamont Jones (183-90, college: Iona, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who scored that evening 19 points and 4 assists and naturalized American forward Sergio Kerusch (195-89, college: W.Kentucky) supported him with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Five Mitteldeutscher BC players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 9 rebounds by American power forward Scott Eatherton (203-91, college: Northeastern, agency: BeoBasket) did not help to save the game for Braunschweig. Austrian point guard Thomas Klepeisz (186-91) added 18 points. Braunschweig's coach Frank Menz rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mitteldeutscher BC moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Goettingen. Loser Braunschweig keeps the eleventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Giessen 46ers. Mitteldeutscher BC will meet Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#16) on the road in the next round. Braunschweig will play against Giessen 46ers (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
