Regular Season Round 8: Galitos-Barreiro - Ovarense 73-81

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 9th ranked Galitos-Barreiro (3-7) was defeated at home by tenth ranked Ovarense (3-7) 81-73. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Ovarense made 28-of-37 charity shots (75.7 percent) during the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Galitos-Barreiro helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Joao Grosso (196-94) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Kyle Anderson (190-93, college: Delaware) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Four Ovarense players scored in double figures. Ovarense's coach Nuno Manarte allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Darren Townes (201-86, college: Hofstra, agency: Blacktop Management) replied with 14 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Cedric Isom (188-84, college: E.Texas Baptist) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Galitos-Barreiro. Ovarense moved-up to ninth place, which they share with defeated Galitos-Barreiro. Ovarense's next round opponent will be higher ranked CAB Madeira (#5) in Funchal and it may be quite challenging game.
