Regular Season Round 10: Niko-Basket - Dnipro-2 90-53

Higher League top team - Niko-Basket (10-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fifth ranked Dnipro-2 (4-6) in Mykolaiv 90-53. It looked good early as Dnipro-2 took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Niko-Basket had a 20-14 second period charge getting the lead and Dnipro-2 was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 53-90. Niko-Basket dominated on the defensive end, holding Dnipro-2 to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They made 22-of-28 charity shots (78.6 percent) during the game, while Dnipro-2 only scored three points from the stripe. Niko-Basket forced 19 Dnipro-2 turnovers and outrebounded them 63-38 including a 41-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. Dnipro-2 was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Vadim Zaplotinskiy (200-97) scored 9 points, 22 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and forward Sergiy Vershinin (198-95) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side Ihor Dubonenko (197-98) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Georgiy Altuhov (180-96) scored 8 points and 6 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Niko-Basket have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-0 record. Dnipro-2 at the other side keeps the fifth place with six games lost. They share the position with Kyiv Basket. Niko-Basket will play against Ch.Mavpy 2 (#8) in Cherkasy in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Dnipro-2 will play at home against the league's second-placed Zolotoi Vek and hopes to get back on the winning track.
