Regular Season Round 14: Bochum - Schalke 106-98

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Schalke (11-3) in Bochum on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by seventh ranked AstroStars (8-6) 106-98. They made 33-of-42 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. 34 personal fouls committed by Schalke helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Alexander Angerer (203-96) scored 28 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American point guard Jarvis Davis (183-91, college: Gardner-Webb) chipped in 18 points and 5 assists during the contest. American guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) responded with 37 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and naturalized American forward Shawn Gulley (201-93, college: Temple JC) scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. AstroStars have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place in North, which they share with Wolfenbuettel and Rostock. Schalke at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. AstroStars is looking forward to face ETB Wohnbau (#8) in Essen in the next round. Schalke will play at home against Itzehoe (#7) and is hoping to win this game.
