Regular Season Round 10: Vitoria SC - Benfica 100-98

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Benfica (11-1) in Guimaraes on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by fourth ranked Vitoria SC (8-4) 100-98. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Benfica. Worth to mention a great performance of American Roderick Nealy (198-80, college: Houston Baptist) who helped to win the game recording 44 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Point guard Miguel Cardoso (188-93) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. The former international point guard Nuno Oliveira (186-89) replied with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists and international point guard Tomas Barroso (184-90, agency: Dynamics Global Management) added 20 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Benfica. Four Vitoria SC and five Benfica players scored in double figures. Vitoria SC moved-up to third place, which they share with FC Porto. Defending champion Benfica still keeps top position with one game lost. Vitoria SC is looking forward to face FC Porto Ferpinta (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Benfica will play against Ovarense and is hoping to win this game.
