Regular Season Round 11: Dinamo - Hoverla 111-112

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Dinamo (10-1) in Odessa on Friday night. Hosts were edged by second ranked Hoverla (8-2) 112-111. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Hoverla made 30-of-39 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 29 personal fouls committed by Dinamo helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for center Volodymyr Orlenko (212-85) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Point guard Andriy Kalashnikov (175-89) helped adding 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international swingman Rostyslav Kryvych (197-78) responded with 31 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and American point guard Danny Lawhorn (183-90, college: Midwestern St.) scored 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Hoverla and four Dinamo players scored in double figures. Dinamo's coach Gennadiy Kuznetsov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hoverla maintains second place with 8-2 record having six points less than leader Dinamo. Newly promoted Dinamo still keeps top position with one game lost. Hoverla will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Dinamo will play again at home against the league's second-placed Hoverla and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
