Very important is a road loss of second ranked Besiktas (9-3) against thirteenth ranked Pinar Karsiyaka (4-8) on Sunday night. Visiting Besiktas was defeated by Pinar Karsiyaka in a tough game in Karsiyaka 71-79. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Besiktas. Pinar Karsiyaka made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American swingman DJ Kennedy (198-89, college: St.John's) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and American-Hungarian power forward Jarrod Jones (207-90, college: Ball St.) supported him with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by American Earl Clark (208-88, college: Louisville) did not help to save the game for Besiktas. The former international center Sertac Sanli (211-91, agency: BeoBasket) added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Besiktas' coach Ufuk Sarica rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Pinar Karsiyaka moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Yesilgiresun. Loser Besiktas dropped to the third position with three games lost. They share it with Eskisehir Basket. Pinar Karsiyaka will meet higher ranked Sakarya BSB (#7) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Besiktas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Istanbul Fenerbahce.
