Regular Season Round 23: Perlas - Vytis 57-86

NKL top team - Vytis (20-3) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Perlas (8-15) in Vilnius 86-57. Vytis dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Perlas' 22. They outrebounded Perlas 53-31 including a 38-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Perlas was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for center Edvinas Jezukevicius (207-90) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). American guard Brian Wanamaker (185-89, college: Texas Wesleyan) helped adding 10 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Wanamaker is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Vytis players scored in double figures. Power forward Lukas Kvedaravicius (206-97) responded with 12 points and 7 rebounds and Tadas Vaiciunas (200-99) scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Vytis. They maintain first place with 20-3 record. Perlas at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 15 games lost. Vytis will play against Telsiai (#5) in Telsiu in the next round. Perlas will play on the road against Jonava (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
