Regular Season Round 23: Zalgiris II - Taurages 83-78

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Zalgiris II (13-10) beat 8th ranked Taurages (10-13) in Kaunas 83-78. They outrebounded Taurages 37-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was international center Martynas Sajus (208-96) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Point guard Rokas Jokubaitis (187-0) chipped in 7 points and 10 assists. Four Zalgiris II players scored in double figures. Zalgiris II's coach Tomas Masiulis used entire bench in such tough game. Forward Rytis Pipiras (201-95) produced 21 points and 6 rebounds and forward Paulius Morkeliunas (202-85, college: LIU Brooklyn, agency: Octagon Europe) added 19 points respectively for the guests. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Zalgiris II. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Telsiai. Taurages lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. Zalgiris II's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Suduva-Mantinga in Marijampole and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Taurages will play at home against Palanga (#12) and hope to win that game.
