Regular Season Round 15: Lietkabelis - Dzukija 98-87

There was no surprise in Panevezys where 7th ranked Dzukija (6-12) was defeated by fourth ranked Lietkabelis (12-6) 98-87 on Saturday. The game without a history. Lietkabelis led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Lietkabelis made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for the former international center Ksistof Lavrinovic (209-79) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 8 rebounds. Latvian swingman Zanis Peiners (207-90) helped adding 21 points and 4 assists. Lietkabelis' coach Ramunas Butautas used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American guard Katin Reinhardt (198-93, college: Marquette) with 19 points and Spanish guard Alejandro Hernandez (189-90) scored 9 points and 9 assists. Five Lietkabelis and four Dzukija players scored in double figures. Lietkabelis maintains fourth place with 12-6 record. Dzukija lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Siauliai and P.Zvaigzdes. Lietkabelis will meet at home Vytautas (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Dzukija will play against Nevezis and hope to secure a win.
